Just west of US Highway 127 (US 127), the street transitions into a six-lane boulevard and proceeds easterly to the East Lansing city limit. From that point easterly for about a mile (1.6 km) to M-43 at Grand River Avenue in downtown East Lansing, Michigan Avenue is state-maintained as a four- to six-lane boulevard designated M-143.
The highway then has a junction with I-96/I-69 in Delta Township before continuing into Lansing, merged with BL I-69. In Lansing, the highway travels splits to follow the one-way streets of Saginaw (eastbound) and Oakland (westbound) near the Sparrow Specialty Hospital. BL I-69/M-43 then crosses the Grand River and passes Marshall Park.
M-43 (Saginaw Street, Grand River Avenue) serves as a major east-west thoroughfare through the city. In downtown East Lansing, the route separates the central business district of the city from the campus of Michigan State University. M-143 (Michigan Avenue) is a route between M-43 and the Lansing city limit. Culture
