Dibrugarh University is a collegiate public state university in the Indian state of Assam. It is located at Dibrugarh, Assam, India. It is the second oldest University in Assam and in the North East. It was set up on 1 July 1965 under the provisions of the Dibrugarh University Act, 1965 [1] enacted by the Assam Legislative Assembly.
According to the 2011 census Dibrugarh district has a population of 1,326,335, [1] roughly equal to the nation of Mauritius [15] or the US state of Maine. [16] This gives it a ranking of 367th in India (out of a total of 640). [1] The district has a population density of 393 inhabitants per square kilometre (1,020/sq mi). [1]
