California Guitar Trio (CGT) is an acoustic–electric band formed in Los Angeles in 1991 with the aim of expanding the potential of acoustic guitars played in the New standard tuning (NST) introduced by Robert Fripp on Guitar Craft courses. The California Guitar Trio’s core lineup consisted of Paul Richards, Bert Lams, and Hideyo Moriya.

Life and career. Born in Waterford, Ireland, [2] Stewart grew up in Dublin. He began playing guitar when he was thirteen, influenced by guitarists Les Paul and Barney Kessel. Stewart began his professional career performing in Dublin showbands. In 1968, he won an award as the most outstanding soloist at the Montreux Jazz Festival.
After he left the King Cole Trio in October 1947, he joined his brother in Johnny Moore's Three Blazers as a member of that group into the early 1950s. [2] Moore formed his own trio in 1952 and was active in Los Angeles. [2] He recorded sessions as a leader and as a sideman throughout the 1950s, but left the industry at the end of the decade. [2]
