The 2023–2024 Georgian protests are a series of street demonstrations taking place throughout Georgia over parliamentary backing of a proposed "Law on Transparency of Foreign Influence", which requires NGOs to register as "agents of foreign influence" or "organizations carrying the interests of a foreign power" if the funds they receive from abroad amount to more than 20% of their total revenue.
In March 2023, Georgian Dream supported a draft foreign agent law presented by the People's Power movement, which would have labeled civil society and media organizations which receive more than 20% of their total revenue from abroad as "foreign agents". The draft law was criticized by the US State Department, United Nations and European Union.
In September 2023, the party founded the "Anti-Maidan movement" in Georgia to counter an alleged plan of Western-funded groups and Ukraine-based Georgian politicians to stage a coup in Georgia. On April 11, 2024, the Georgian Public Registry revoked the registration of the Conservative Movement as a valid and legal political party.
