Hockomock Swamp. Coordinates: 41°59′30″N 71°04′43″W. The Hockomock Swamp is a vast wetland encompassing much of the northern part of southeastern Massachusetts. This 16,950-acre (6,859 ha) [1] land is considered the largest freshwater swamp in the state. It acts as a natural flood control mechanism for the region.
In sports, Oliver Ames competes in the Hockomock League where their teams have many achievements, including winning numerous championships. In 2007, the baseball team captured its first-ever MIAA Division 2 State Championship. The girls basketball program has won 3 MIAA Division 2 State Championships taking home the title in 2006, 2010, and 2022.
