Saginaw ( / ˈsæɡɪnɔː /) is a city in and the seat of Saginaw County, Michigan, United States. [4] The city proper had a population of 44,202 at the 2020 census. [5] Located along the Saginaw River, Saginaw is adjacent to Saginaw Charter Township and considered part of Greater Tri-Cities region of Central Michigan.

A shrewd businessman, he invested in a number of early ventures in Saginaw, including lumbering, railroads, banking, and other industries. In 1859, he purchased a plot of farmland (now bounded by Wells, Thurman, Gratiot, and Brockway Streets) from Benjamin Cushway.
