It is located along the shores of Lake Huron on the northeastern tip of the Thumb.

Port Huron is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan and the county seat of St. Clair County. [4] The population was 28,983 at the 2020 census. The city is bordered on the west by Port Huron Township, but the two are administered autonomously. Port Huron is located along the source of the St. Clair River at the southern end of Lake Huron.

The Thumb Fire took place on September 5, 1881, in the Thumb area of Michigan in the United States. [1] The fire, which burned over a million acres (4,000 km 2) in less than a day, was the consequence of drought, hurricane-force winds, heat, the after-effects of the Port Huron Fire of 1871, and the ecological damage wrought by the era's logging techniques.
The Fort Gratiot Light marks the entrance to the St. Clair River from Lake Huron (going south) in the southern portion of Michigan's Thumb. The light is still active and the grounds are an active Coast Guard facility, but it has recently been handed over to the Port Huron Museum. It is the oldest surviving lighthouse in Michigan.
Added to NRHP. July 27, 2005. Spectacle Reef Light is a lighthouse 11 miles (18 km) east of the Straits of Mackinac and is located at the northern end of Lake Huron, Michigan. [8] It was designed and built by Colonel Orlando Metcalfe Poe and Major Godfrey Weitzel, [9] and was the most expensive lighthouse ever built on the Great Lakes.

The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998.
