The short lived North Eastern Province. The number of provinces remained static until September 1988 when, in accordance with the Indo-Lanka Accord, President J. R. Jayewardene issued proclamations enabling the Northern and Eastern provinces to be one administrative unit administered by one elected council, creating the North Eastern Province. [12]
The India women's cricket team toured Sri Lanka to play against the Sri Lanka women's cricket team in June and July 2022. [1] [2] The tour consisted of three Women's One Day International (WODI) and three Women's Twenty20 International (WT20I) matches. At its formation in 1949, the Ceylon Army adopted the rank structures of the British Army. The highest rank in the Sri Lanka Army is Field Marshal, though the rank has no appointment in the army, it was first awarded in 2015 as an honorary rank to Sarath Fonseka for his war time service, the rank has been awarded for his whole life.
