Kenton County is a county located in the northern part of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. As of the 2020 census, the population was 169,064, [1] making it the third most populous county in Kentucky (behind Jefferson County and Fayette County ). Its county seats are Covington and Independence. [2]
Scott High School sits on a 78-acre (320,000 m 2) campus that is shared with Woodland Middle School which was built in 1988. The campus includes a football field, softball and two baseball fields, lighted soccer field, tennis courts and is the only high school in Kenton County with an indoor pool.
The school is on U.S. Route 25/U.S. Route 42 (Dixie Highway). The main building is nearly identical in construction and materials to Simon Kenton High School, located in Independence, Kentucky. Before the renovations to both Dixie Heights High School and Simon Kenton High School, they were known as sister schools.

On June 19, 1935, an application was filed with the Public Works Administration for Kenton County, Kentucky for funds to construct a public high school. The application was approved, and on November 2, 1935, a deed was signed for a 23-acre (93,000 m 2 ) site on Madison Pike, one-half mile south of the center of the city of Independence.
