Opened in 1967, it is the second park in the Six Flags chain following the original Six Flags Over Texas, which opened in 1961. In December 2010, Six Flags Over Georgia released a CGI video of Dare Devil Dive, showcasing the ride's layout and theming. The ride officially opened to the public on May 28, 2011, with soft opening for Season Passholders held the day prior.
