The James J. Hill House in Saint Paul, Minnesota, United States, was built by railroad magnate James J. Hill. The house, completed in 1891, is near the eastern end of Summit Avenue near the Cathedral of Saint Paul. The house, for its time, was very large and was the "showcase of St. Paul" until James J. The Alexander Ramsey House is a historic house museum in Saint Paul, Minnesota, United States; the former residence of Alexander Ramsey, who served as the first governor of Minnesota Territory and the second governor of the state of Minnesota. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1969.
Description and history. It is the restored former home of lumber magnate W.H.C. Folsom, who moved his family to the area in 1850. Folsom served as state representative for one term and state senator for six terms. The house is run by a partnership between the Taylors Falls Historical Society and the Minnesota Historical Society.
