Maricopa County (/ ˌ m ær ɪ ˈ k oʊ p ə /) is a county in the south-central part of the U.S. state of Arizona.As of the 2020 census the population was 4,420,568, [1] or about 62% of the state's total, making it the fourth-most populous county in the United States and the most populous county in Arizona, and making Arizona one of the nation's most centralized states.
Maricopa is located at 33°3′24″N 112°2′48″W (33.056702, -112.046656). [10] According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 31.9 square miles (83 km 2), all land. [11] The topography in Maricopa is flat, with several mountain ranges 10 to 20 miles away. The elevation of Maricopa is 1190 feet.
The Luis Lugo Bakery, also known as "La Patellera", was built in 1917 and is located at 415 W. Sherman St. This structure is one of the earliest Hispanic commercial properties in Phoenix. Designated as a landmark with Historic Preservation-Landmark (HP-L) overlay zoning (Phoenix Historic Property Register).
The Phoenix Metropolitan Area comprises Maricopa County (2020 population: 4,420,568) and Pinal County (2020 population: 425,264). It is officially designated by the US Census Bureau as the Phoenix–Mesa–Chandler, AZ Metropolitan Statistical Area. The total population for metropolitan Phoenix at the 2020 Census was 4,845,832.
Two of the historic properties have been converted into restaurants. They are the Cave Creek Inn and the Cave Creek Service Station. The Cave Creek Inn was built in 1920 and is Cave Creek's longest operating commercial building. It is now occupied by a restaurant. The Cave Creek Service Station was built in 1925.
