Early years. Lloyd John Oglivie was born in Kenosha Wisconsin on 2 September 1930. He was educated in the public schools of Kenosha. He then attended and graduated from Lake Forest College (B.A.) in 1952, and from Garrett Theological Seminary (Th.M.) in 1957.
