The Wikimedia Commons (also called "Wikicommons", "the Commons", "Wikipedia Commons" or just "Commons") is a repository of free content images, sound and other multimedia files. Like Wikipedia, it is a project of the Wikimedia Foundation. It provides a common resource repository to all the various Wikimedia sister projects in any language.
Unless you are uploading fair use images it is best to load images to Commons rather than Wikipedia, once they are on Commons they can easily be used by all language versions of Wikipedia and on many other projects. If you are loading small numbers of images then commons:Special:UploadWizard allows you to upload up to ten images at a time.
