Kane is a Puritan Englishman, of the 16th century, who is often depicted with the stereotypical garb of his time and culture. He is dressed entirely in black. He wears a slouch hat, leather gloves, riding boots, a doublet, and cloak.
Solomon Kane is a fictional character featured in several comics published by Marvel Comics between 1973 and 1994. He was originally created by the pulp -era writer Robert E. Howard. Howard's most famous creation, the Cimmerian barbarian, thief, pirate and King of Aquilonia during the pre-Ice Age Hyborian Age. Many of the Conan stories not published during Howard's lifetime were edited by other authors before publication. The Fragment stories have all been completed by others since.
Having read a bit of Conan and considerably less Solomon Kane, it seems like he's just a 16th-century incarnation of Howard's usual "ultimate badass" character (Kull, Conan, Bran Mak Morn).
