Bob Thompson (June 26, 1937 – May 30, 1966) [1] was an African-American figurative painter known for his bold and colorful canvases, whose compositions were influenced by the Old Masters. His art has also been described as synthesizing Baroque and Renaissance masterpieces with the jazz -influenced Abstract Expressionist movement.

Painting. William Robinson Thomson RBA, ARCA (born 24 January 1926 [1] – 1988) was a British artist within the Modern British school of the late twentieth century. He is known for his portraiture and paintings of the female nude. Major influences on his work included Rembrandt, Degas and Cezanne.
He was born in Chicago Illinois, to Marguerite and Walter Scott [1] and attended Hinsdale Township High School (1942–1946). He joined the US Army Medical Corps, working as an art therapist with returning veterans (1946–1948) and attended the Art Institute of Chicago under the G.I. Bill receiving a BFA in Painting (1948–1952).
