The Standard is one of the largest newspapers in Kenya with a 48% market share. It is the oldest newspaper in the country and is owned by The Standard Group, which also runs the Kenya Television Network (KTN), Radio Maisha, The Nairobian (a weekly tabloid), KTN News and Standard Digital which is its online platform.

BNN Breaking was a news website based in Hong Kong launched in 2022 by Indian-American entrepreneur Gurbaksh Chahal. It was criticised for posting a number of misleading and inaccurate news stories, potentially using AI-driven content aggregation. As of 22 May, 2024, the website redirects into BNNGPT and is no longer accessible.
