The land for Longhorn Cavern State Park was acquired between 1932 and 1937 from private owners. It was dedicated as a state park in 1932 and in 1938 was opened to the public.
It is owned and operated by the Longhorn Council of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). [1] It is around 280 acres in size. [2] Worth Ranch is used primarily as a Scout reservation and camping ground.
