In December 2017 CVS Health announced a deal to acquire Aetna. On October 10, 2018, CVS Health received approval from the United States Department of Justice to acquire Aetna, for $69 billion. CVS announced it would close 46 "underperforming stores" in 2019, and a further 22 in 2020, without disclosing their locations.
