Del Valle Regional Park is a part of the East Bay Regional Park District (EBRPD) in an unincorporated region of Alameda County, California, 10 miles (16 km) south of the city of Livermore. [1] The park covers 4,316 acres (~17.47 km 2 ., ~6.74 sq. mi.).
Several backpack campgrounds exist along the way. [citation needed] Much of the routes land is owned by the San Francisco Water Department. Right to pass is subject to a permit, which is available at the Sunol Wilderness entrance gate. The terrain between Sunol Wilderness and Del Valle Park can be challenging.
Lake description. The lake is on Arroyo Valle (Spanish for "creek of the valley") in the Diablo Range, and is formed by Del Valle Dam, completed in 1968 (56 years ago). [2] The lake and dam are part of the California State Water Project, as part of the South Bay Aqueduct. The lake serves in part as off-stream storage for the South Bay Aqueduct.
