The Anson Record is an American newspaper based in Wadesboro, North Carolina, covering Anson County, N.C. The Anson Record traces its heritage back to 1881, as the Messenger and Intelligencer (and Ansonian ), but the modern Anson Record was first published on Jan. 20, 1955.
Anson County was originally occupied by the Catawba Siouan tribe as a vast territory with indefinite northern and western boundaries. The county was formed in 1750 from Bladen County. It was named for George Anson, Baron Anson, a British admiral who circumnavigated the world. [3] Anson purchased land in the state. [4]

The Anson County Regiment was authorized on September 9, 1775 by the Third North Carolina Provincial Congress. The regiment was engaged in battles and skirmishes against the British and Cherokee during the American Revolution in North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia between 1776 and 1781. It was active until the end of the war.
