Mehlville High School was first established in 1925 after parents demanded local secondary education for their children. Previously, teens in the Mehlville-Oakville area had to commute to Hancock Place or Kirkwood. [4] The school was first housed at the old St. John's School on Will Avenue, across the street from the school's current site. [4]
Parkway West High School (PWHS) was the second high school built in the Parkway School District; it opened in fall 1968 with grades 10-12. In the 1969–1970 school year, Parkway West Junior High was formed and grades 7-9 were housed in the West Senior building, operating on the same schedule as West Senior.

Elma High School serves the rural communities of McCleary, Elma and Satsop. Elma is located between Olympia and Aberdeen allowing a wider choice of colleges to attend to for Running Start. The school serves grades 9 to 12 and enrolls around 735 students, with around 170 in the senior graduating class. [3] The school mascot is the Eagle.

The original Oakville elementary school, built in 1953, began to be demolished in November 2021 after a bond program to rebuild and renovate the school system campus was passed in 2020. The $5.6 million measure covered the cost of a new elementary building and help to refurbish several areas at the high school.
