JPMorgan European Discovery (LSE: JEDT), formerly the JP Morgan European Fledgling Investment Trust, is a large British investment trust. Established in 1990, it is dedicated to investments in smaller European companies. The Chairman is Carolan Dobson. It is listed on the London Stock Exchange and is a constituent of the FTSE 250 Index.
Between 1923 and 1925, together with a number of other New York banks, it held a small stake in the Connecticut -chartered Bank of Central and South America. In 1929, it was renamed the Corn Exchange Bank and Trust Company. In 1954, it merged with Chemical Bank and the combined entity took the name Chemical Corn Exchange Bank.
Morgan Guaranty Trust. Alexander is credited for revitalizing J.P. Morgan & Co. with his aggressive approach to the development of new business, and in 1959 he leveraged this influx of capital funds to merge with the Guaranty Trust Company, forming Morgan Guaranty and serving as its CEO and chairman.
The thrift purchased deposits and branches of Columbia Savings and Loan in 1991, Far West Savings and Loan in 1992, Valley Federal S&L in 1992, and Encino Savings Bank in 1994. In 1996, American Savings Bank was purchased by Washington Mutual Bank for $1.2 billion. Washington Mutual failed in 2008 and was acquired by JP Morgan Chase Bank.
