History. FC Arizona announced its formation on July 19, 2016, with a press release. [1] [2] The team held a launch party on August 5, 2016, at Mesa Community College, where the team will play its home games. They joined the NPSL on September 22, 2016, and were placed in the Southwest Conference. [3] The team colors are Blue and Gold.

Sporting AZ FC won the Arizona Conference in their 1st season in the UPSL, moving on to the UPSL National Quarterfinals. The team was led by head coach Tim Marchisotto and standout goalkeeper Jake Rybicki. 2018 saw the team raise the bar again, with Marchisotto moving into the general manager role and the addition of Aidan Davison as head coach.
AZ Alkmaar, formerly named AZ '67 between their formation in 1967 and 1986, [1] played their very first official match in competitive European football on 14 September 1977. This was a UEFA Cup first round game against FA Red Boys Differdange of Luxembourg. The match ended in an 11–1 blowout home victory for AZ.
