[20] In the UK they are not quite so popular, placing 28th and 30th in the rankings of registrations with the Kennel Club in 2005 and 2006 respectively. [ 21 ]
Malteses were the most popular dog from 1936 all the way through to 1952, when the Beagle became the number one dog until 1959.
