Sir Henry Morton Stanley GCB (born John Rowlands; 28 January 1841 – 10 May 1904) was a Welsh-American [1] [2] [a] explorer, journalist, soldier, colonial administrator, author and politician who was famous for his exploration of Central Africa and his search for missionary and explorer David Livingstone.
Following the death of his father, Gilbert's mother married Harold Stanley, one of the founders of Morgan Stanley. Henry Sturgis Morgan, the other founder, was Gilbert's godfather. Gilbert attended Buckley School and Hotchkiss School and graduated from Yale University in 1956 and served in the United States Army until 1959.
The Morgan dollar is a United States dollar coin minted from 1878 to 1904, in 1921, and beginning again in 2021 as a collectible.
