The UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center is a cancer research and treatment center at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.One of 52 National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer centers in the United States, [1] its clinical base is the N.C. Cancer Hospital, part of the UNC Health Care system.
Nat Cartmell, a 1908 Olympic gold medalist in athletics, was the first basketball coach at UNC. He coached North Carolina from 1910 to 1914. Dean Smith led the Tar Heels from 1961 to 1997 and won two national championships in 1982 and 1993. His 879 wins in Chapel Hill are the most by a coach at the school.
