The Magnet Recognition Program is a recognition program operated by the American Nurses Credentialing Center that allows nurses to recognize nursing excellence in other nurses. It is considered the highest recognition for nursing excellence. [1] The program also offers an avenue to disseminate successful nursing practices and strategies.
The ANCC also runs the Pathway to Excellence program to help hospitals improve their working environment for nurses. The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), the largest and most prominent nursing credentialing organization in the United States, honored Lowell General Hospital with Magnet Recognition for excellence in nursing care in October 2010.
NYU Langone Health's four hospitals have all earned the Magnet designation for excellence in nursing and quality patient care from the American Nurses Credentialing Center, an honor achieved by only 9.4% of hospitals in the U.S.. NYU Langone is the only health system in New York State that has earned Magnet recognition for all of its hospitals.
