Some Kind of Heaven is a 2020 American documentary film about The Villages, Florida, the world's largest retirement community.Marking the directorial feature debut of Lance Oppenheim, the film is a stylized portrait of four residents living within The Villages, struggling to find happiness and meaning in life's final chapters.
The Villages was the top-selling master-planned community in the United States in 2017 and one of only four communities to sell more than 1,000 homes. The Villages also claimed the title of the best-selling master-planned community of the decade, with 24,440 new home sales from 2010 through 2019.
The Village received mixed reviews, with many critics expressing disappointment with the twist ending. James Newton Howard was nominated for Best Original Score at the 77th Academy Awards. The film was a financial success as it grossed $256.7 million worldwide against a $60–71.7 million production budget.
The Telegraph review was less positive than for the first series, saying it "has its moments but the end result is muddled" and giving it a two out of five rating. DVD.
