Ashcraft attended Robinson High School in Robinson, Texas. He was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the second round of the 2018 Major League Baseball draft. He signed with the Pirates, and made his professional debut with the Gulf Coast Pirates. Ashcraft played 2019 with the West Virginia Black Bears.
