Silpakorn University. Walailak University. Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University. There are 40 universities in the Rajabhat Universities system. [1] The universities are designed to provide higher education in provinces. They were formerly called Rajabhat Institutes and originally emerged as colleges of education.
The university consists of four campuses and one education service area. In 1968, the first permanent campus was established in Pattani. The campus in Hat Yai was opened in 1971 and is now the main campus, with more than 50% of the university's students. Other campuses were established in Phuket (1977) and Surat Thani (1990).
Ramkhamhaeng University has two major campuses, both in Bangkok. Freshman classes are held at Bang Na campus in Prawet district. Most others classes are conducted at the main campus at Hua Mak, Bang Kapi District. Approximately 435,000 students attend the university, 400,000 undergraduates and 35,000 graduate students.
The institute was upgraded to a university on 14 June 2004 when the king gave his approval to the 2004 Rajabhat University Act. Faculties. The university was founded in 1887 by King Chulalongkorn with the purpose of establishing a higher education institute for Buddhist monks, novices, and laypersons with an emphasis on Buddhist studies and other subjects. The university began offering classes in 1889. It adopted its current name in 1896.
The university's latest acquisition is the Si Bua Ban campus (Thai: ศรีบัวบาน) in Amphoe Mueang Lamphun, Lamphun Province, about 55 kilometres south of Chiang Mai, on a 1,890-acre (7.6 km 2) site close to the Lamphun industrial centre.
