The new Paul and Lulu Hilliard University Art Museum opened in April 2004. The museum building is 33,000 square feet (3,100 m 2 ) with over 11,000 square feet (1,000 m 2 ) of gallery space. Its design is the result of a collaboration between museum founder, Herman Mhire, and Eskew+Dumez+Ripple , a New Orleans -based studio.
