Penang (Malay: Pulau Pinang, ) is a Malaysian state located on the northwest coast of Peninsular Malaysia along the Strait of Malacca. It has two parts: Penang Island , where the capital city, George Town , is located, and Seberang Perai on the Malay Peninsula .
