Shot to death by off-duty officer Chauncey Ellison Sr. who was accompanied by his girlfriend, off-duty officer Robin Fortune. The officers had driven around Allen's neighborhood looking for a person who had stolen a pizza from their two sons. During an altercation in front of Allen's home, Ellison shot Allen in the back, leaving him paralyzed.
