In response to challenges by private channels such as STN and NTM as well as Indian channels. PTV started its second TV Channel PTV-2 in 1992, it was the first-ever satellite channel of Pakistan as well. PTV-2 was the first Pakistani channel to appear on airwaves of Asia, Africa and Australia. PTV/PTV-1 joined this very satellite beam in 1993–94.

Founded in 1974, PTV is the main brand of People's Television Network, Inc. (PTNI), one of the attached agencies under the Presidential Communications Office (PCO).
History. PTV Home started broadcasting on 26 November 1964 in West Pakistan and on 25 December 1964 in East Pakistan (the current Bangladesh). The broadcasts were limited to Lahore and Dacca at first (the Dhaka station would later become a part of Bangladesh Television upon Bangladesh's independence in 1971), before extending to Rawalpindi and Islamabad in 1965 and Karachi in 1966.
Initially under Television Promoters Company (TPC) in 1966, it was upgraded to Pakistan Television Corp in 1967. Nationalised in 1972, PTV's experimental color transmission started in 1976. [3] In 1987, the Pakistan Television Academy was founded for training in the evolving medium. In the late 1980s, morning transmissions commenced.
