The Washington Branch of the National Bank of Washington is an historic bank building located in Northwest, Washington, D.C. History. The building was built in 1888 as a branch of The Bank of Washington. It was designed by James G. Hill and Daniel J. Macarty. It was documented by the Historic American Buildings Survey.

[1] The bank lent $350,000, more than two-thirds of its capital, to the United States Government during the War of 1812. [1] The bank was initially located on Capitol Hill but in 1828, it moved to a building on 6th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue.

It was built about 1854, and is a two-story, stuccoed brick temple-form building in the Greek Revival style. The front facade features a tetrastyle Ionic order portico.
