The school left the Louisiana Independent School Association in 1992 to join the Mississippi Private School Association (MPSA). The MPSA changed its name in 2009 to the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools (MAIS), which renamed itself the Mid-South Association of Independent Schools the day Central Private departed.
Zachary High School was established in 1912. It was segregated. The Rosenwald Fund helped establish a school for African Americans, Zachary Colored School, in 1934, but there was no public high school open to African Americans in Zachary until 1954. Zachary High School desegregated in the 1970s.
Catholic High School was founded in 1894 as St. Vincent's Academy. The school was so named in recognition of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, who helped organize and establish the school. [4] The original site of the school was an old frame building in downtown Baton Rouge, and the enrollment was 106 students.
