Green Satin, also known as ARI 5851, was a Doppler radar system developed by the Royal Air Force as an air navigation aid. The system provided direct measures of the drift speed and direction, and thereby allowed accurate calculation of the winds aloft. These values were then fed into the Navigation and Bombing System.
In 1961, Gulf High School moved into a new building, [8] and in 1977 it moved to its third and current location at 5355 School Road, New Port Richey FL 34652. [9] The building which now houses Gulf High school opened as Gulf Junior High School (now Gulf Middle School) in 1971; in 1977 the two schools switched buildings.
As the storm made landfall, the Galveston NWS office lost its radar. [6] The A&M radar tracked the remnants as they moved inland. The integration of a Lassen Research PSP-32 processor in 1992 enabled Doppler capability. The new system was renamed the TAMU Aggie Doppler Radar (TAMU-ADRAD). This system was updated in 1993.
