Panama (Sinhala: පාණම, pāṇama, Tamil: பாணமை, pāṇamai) is a coastal village in the Eastern Province of Sri Lanka, located 126 kilometres (78 mi) south of Batticaloa and 12 km (7.5 mi) south of Arugam Bay.
Subsequently, the government declared a new administrative district including Pottuvil, Kalmunai, and Ampara electoral districts on 10 April 1961. Ancient Batticaloa region was thereby divided into two administrative districts where the northern part remained under the same name, and the southern part got a new name, "Amparai".
Matale District (Sinhala: මාතලේ දිස්ත්රික්කය, Tamil: மாத்தளை மாவட்டம்) is a district in the Central Province of Sri Lanka. It is one of 25 districts of Sri Lanka. The administrative capital and largest city of the district is Matale.
The district is administered by a District Secretariat headed by a District Secretary (previously known as a Government Agent) appointed by the central government of Sri Lanka. The capital of the district is the city of Batticaloa. Ampara District was carved out of the southern part of Batticaloa District in April 1961. [4] [5]
The village has 9–10 square meter area with 4 km long continuous sea boundary on the East and contains paddy lands on the West. Kalmunai, a commercial town with Muslim majority borders the North and Ninthavur, another Muslim dominant village is on its South.

Sammanthurai Divisional Secretariat is situated at 19 km east of Ampara town. It is boundary of North of Navithanveli Divisional Secretariat, South of Irakkamam Divisional Secretary's Division East of Karaitivu Divisional Secretary's Division and West of Ampara Urban Council.
