Henrico County Public Library System was created in 1963 through the Henrico County Board of Supervisors and a citizens' committee. [5] The library system was granted three area libraries: Fairfield, Lakeside, and Tuckahoe. Two branch libraries were also set up Varina and Sandston. Henrico Parish Church moved to Richmond in 1741, and was housed in what is now the Church Hill neighborhood, on land donated by William Byrd II. Byrd also donated timber used to build the church, and wood to fire the kiln for the bricks for the foundation. Henrico's county seat was also moved from Varina to Richmond in 1752.
