Tufts University (BA) William Colridge Thompson Jr. (born July 10, 1953) [ 1 ][ 2 ][ 3 ] is an American politician who served as the 42nd Comptroller of New York City; sworn into office on January 1, 2002, he was reelected to serve a second term that began on January 1, 2006. He did not seek re-election in 2009.
Thompson's family consisted of himself, his mother, and his older sister and her husband, his brother-in-law. Thompson's father died in a car accident when he was only 13 years old. His mother was a school teacher, his father owned a start-up dry cleaning business. His sister's occupation was unknown. Later on, Thompson married Carol Plenda.
