The community of Alum Creek was formed on December 7, 1910, which replaced the community of Rome, WV. The United States Post Office of Alum Creek, WV, has always been located in Kanawha County of West Virginia. In later years, Business started springing up on the Lincoln County side of Coal River and they were adopted into the Alum Creek community.
