Website. Official website. Six Flags Over Georgia is a 290-acre (1.2 km 2) theme park located in Austell. Opened in 1967, it is the second park in the Six Flags chain following the original Six Flags Over Texas, which opened in 1961. Six Flags Over Georgia is one of three parks in the Six Flags chain to have been founded by Angus G. Wynne.
With the new owners came a more abundant supply of capital for geographic expansion and park additions. Six Flags opened Six Flags Over Georgia in 1967 and Six Flags Over Mid-America in 1971, which were the last two original parks constructed by the company. In December 2006, Six Flags Over Georgia dismantled Freefall, a first generation ride. In September 2007, Six Flags Over Texas imploded the original Freefall, Wildcatter, which was originally named Texas Cliffhanger. In February 2008, Freefall from Six Flags Magic Mountain was dismantled. The ride was standing but not operating from 2005 to 2006.
Six Flags White Water is a 69-acre (280,000 m 2) water park located northwest of Atlanta, in East Cobb, Georgia. Originally opening in 1984 as White Water Atlanta, the park became part of the Six Flags family of parks in 1999.
