TheNEWS Magazine is a daily news magazine published in Nigeria by the Independent Communications Network Limited (ICNL). It was founded in February 1993 by Bayo Onanuga and Babafemi Ojudu.
Newswatch was formed by Nigerian journalists Dele Giwa, Ray Ekpu, Dan Agbese and Yakubu Mohammed in 1984, and the first edition was distributed on 28 January 1985. A 1989 description of the magazine said it "changed the format of print journalism in Nigeria [and] introduced bold, investigative formats to news reporting in Nigeria".
Tell magazine published its first edition on 15 April 1991. All five of the founding editors had worked at Newswatch, where they learned to create in-depth, investigative feature stories. They left that magazine due to low pay and disagreements with senior management, hoping that the new magazine would be more fulfilling.
