The Jonesboro Metropolitan Statistical Area, as defined by the United States Census Bureau, is an area consisting of two counties – Craighead and Poinsett – in northeast Arkansas, anchored by the city of Jonesboro. History. It was first founded in 1976 as NEA Medical Center. In 2007, it changed its name to NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital and partnered with Baptist Memorial Health Care in Memphis.
