The Rossington Main Novices' Hurdle is a Grade 2 National Hunt hurdle race in Great Britain which is open to horses aged four years or older. It is run at Haydock Park over a distance of about 1 mile 7½ furlongs (1 mile 7 furlongs 144 yards, or 3,149 metres), and during its running there are nine hurdles to be jumped.

Pigeon racing is the sport of releasing specially trained homing pigeons, which then return to their homes over a carefully measured distance.The time it takes the animal to cover the specified distance is measured and the bird's rate of travel is calculated and compared with all of the other pigeons in the race to determine which animal returned at the highest speed.

For a period the race was known as the Tradesmen's Plate. [2] During this time it was open to horses aged three or older. The race was renamed the Chester Trades' Cup in 1874. [3] From this point it was often referred to as the Chester Cup, [4] and that became its usual title in 1884. [5]
