A little Oakville history. Oakville started in the 1860s as a water stop on the steam train line between ferry boats that docked in Vallejo and the resort town of Calistoga. The village gained its name from the dense groves of dark green valley oaks of the area. In 1868, H. W. Crabb turned Oakville into a wine-growing area that would become legendary.
